How do we rid ourselves of something that has become as ‘normal’ as breathing?
Section 197 (3) of the Constitution (which deals with public service) stipulates that; “No employee of the public service may be favoured or prejudiced only because that person supports a particular political party or cause”.
We may as well extend that to; “No discrimination at all and the best human for the job!”
It is a well known fact that loyal political deployees of parties in power (NP, ANC, DA – you name them) that fail are ‘deployed’ to cushy jobs out of the limelight but invariable offering higher salaries. It is also well known that administrators in powerful positions need to ascribe to and vote for the political party in power. Frankly I blame that on the Apartheid Government and the Colonial Government before them as they did exactly the same.
It is human nature that most political appointees favour their political supporters over their political detractors.

It has all to do with POLITICS.
We must fix this on a micro city-wide level by only voting for Ward Councillors and Citizen Activists who will put citizens of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole FIRST. We need Ward Councillors and political deployees who will make decisions based on what is best for the CITY and not on what is best for their pocket or political party!
