The President Must do This, The Premier Must do That, The Mayor Must Fire So and So…
A business lesson I learned a long time ago is this one; “If you run someone down in the industry in which you work you are, by association, running yourself and your whole industry down!” That in turn is a signal to prospective customers (supporters/voters/stakeholders) that you are not trustworthy and do not have a valid solution for their needs.
A hallmark of opposition politics is the ability to negatively criticise everything the party in power does.
Most times this takes place in the form of press releases with the writer pontificating on just how cr@p the present government is and what the present government should be doing to fix some or other shortcoming.
The bottom line of most of these press releases is a paragraph extolling the successes of the opposition party on some other area completely divorced from the area in question.
NOW
I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent and empathetic human being and FOR JUST ONCE (and hopefully every time thereafter) I would like to be acknowledged as possessing just a SMIDGEN of intelligence, empathy and pride in my Country.
JUST ONCE it would be wonderful to hear politicians defer to the people that voted for them and tell them that the solution is in THE HANDS OF THE VOTER – for far too long we have abdicated our political power to people more interested in their own ability to screw us or craft a nasty letter than to actually acknowledge us as decent functioning human beings with a brain!
The time for us to elect servants who will action our needs and encourage us to feel proud of our country – no matter who is in charge – is upon us.
